The Lab Science Coordinator supervises and trains staff in the preparation of equipment and materials used for lecture and laboratory experiments. Essential Functions 30% - Assists faculty in the design and trouble-shooting of biology labs; prepares lab set ups and ensures all materials are available for lab 30% - Directs the work of science lab technicians and student workers20% - Maintains stock room, prep room, inventory and orders materials as needed10% - Helps break down labs and clean labs and equipment10% - Assembles and repairs equipment as needed; performs other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution, four (4) years of directly related full-time experience such as providing assistance to students in an instructional setting; and/or preparing, maintaining and delivering equipment, supplies or other related instructional materials used for laboratory activities including two years of lead work or senior level experience. OR High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years of directly related full-time experience such as providing assistance to students in an instructional setting; and/or preparing, maintaining and delivering equipment, supplies or other related instructional materials used for laboratory activities including two years of lead work or senior level experience. NOTE: One (1) year of work experience is equivalent to 2,080 hours worked. Therefore, employment must be indicated as full-time or part-time on the resume to determine applicant qualifications. Desired Qualifications A. Bachelor's degree earned from an accredited institution of higher learning B. Experience preparing classroom laboratories in an academic settingC. Experience piloting or trouble-shooting classroom laboratory experimentsD. Experience setting up life-science laboratories in an academic settingE.Experience in maintaining a budgetF. Experience in supervising laboratory staff including laboratory technicians and college work study students Special Working Conditions Exposure to chemicals and organisms which may present hazards if not handled properly. May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires flexible work schedule in coordination with the student semester and class schedules; afternoon, evening and weekend hours may be required.
