Role Description

The Zoetis Tech & Digital (ZTD) organization is in a distinguished position to lead one of Zoetis' core strategies, lead in digital technology and data analytics as we reimagine animal health. This role will serve as the bridge between the Information Technology (IT) department and the business units within our Veterinary Medicine organization; specifically focused on Development within Research & Development. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to understand and document the business needs to the level of capability need and the perceived value of having that/those capabilities. You will, working with our Architects, Solution Engineers, Data Engineers, and more, align technology solutions with business objectives, and drive the successful implementation and execution of IT initiatives. Your role will be pivotal in driving digital transformation, enhancing operational efficiency, and fostering innovation within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Familiar with current technologies and processes used in a VetMed research environment and aware of emerging technologies that can be leveraged to unlock scalable scientific value for VMRD Scientists
  • Provide overall leadership and strategic guidance in order to plan and initiative projects that solve customer and scientist barriers to grow adoption of emerging technologies
  • Familiar with cGxP regulations and application to new technologies. Will be a driver for adoption of new processes and ensuring regulatory compliance where applicable.
  • Define and analyze metrics to inform the success of initiatives and guide long term roadmaps
  • Represent the needs of scientists and create business cases that drive technology utilization and ROI
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and drive consensus across business lines to deliver comprehensive solutions
  • Demonstrate independent judgement, problem solving skills, and ability to make timely decisions in the best interests of the customer and the company

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in healthcare, Veterinary Science (Biology, Chemistry, etc.), Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze complex processes and challenges, translating them into actionable technical solutions
  • Solid technical background in IT systems, applications, and infrastructure, enabling effective collaboration with technical and business stakeholders

  • Proficient in gathering requirements, mapping processes, and creating detailed documentation to ensure alignment and clear communication of goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels and convey technical concepts in business terms

  • Strategic thinker with a proven ability to identify and implement innovative, scalable solutions that drive continuous improvement and organizational change
  • Experience applying change management principles to facilitate adoption of new processes, systems, and technologies

Project and Operational Management

  • Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to multiple simultaneous projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outcomes
  • Strong skills in organization, planning, and time management, with a focus on achieving results while maintaining attention to detail

Critical Thinking and Independent Work

  • Well-developed critical thinking skills to assess situations, identify solutions, and make timely, independent decisions
  • Self-directed and results-oriented, consistently meeting, or exceeding goals and commitments

Future-Focused Planning

  • Ability to anticipate future trends and challenges, developing proactive strategies to address emerging business needs and drive sustained value

Physical Position Requirements

  • Primarily working in a hybrid environment from our Kalamazoo location at a desk on a computer and in close partnership with scientists. This requires being familiar with R&D laboratory environments.
  • Travel requirements are minimal, 0-10%
