Job Overview The Assistant Designer begins their career on the Design Team at Macy's, actively engaging in the process of learning the company culture, area, brand aesthetics, and principles. This role provides an opportunity to think, dream, and create, seeking designers who are visionaries and leaders. Skills You Will Need Research Skills: Ability to develop an understanding and skills in researching category, trend, and customer preferences. Presentation Skills: Competency in preparing presentation materials and setting up for design-led meetings. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong skills for actively participating in cross-functional team meetings, summarizing action points for the manager, and collaborating closely with team leaders to meet deadlines. Technical Skills: Ability to create flat mechanical sketches for design development packages, work with Adobe and CLO programs for style, color, and pattern development, and participate in creating and distributing tech packages. Relationship Building: Establish relationships and maintain regular communication with cross-functional partners throughout the development cycle. Adaptability and Learning: Willingness to learn on the job, identify opportunities, and develop an assortment. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, crucial for effective collaboration and achieving results. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe Design programs. PLM Knowledge: Working knowledge of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) is a plus. Color and Print Sense: Strong color sense and print sense, with the ability to view and differentiate the color spectrum.
