Mechanical/Manufacturing Design Engineering Intern

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical/Manufacturing Design Engineering Intern within Mason Controls Team. The position is located in Sylmar, California.
The Mechanical/Manufacturing Design Engineering Intern will gain experience in the design and production of commercial and military aerospace products. This individual will work alongside experienced engineers and gain real world design and manufacturing skills.
This role will be for the summer of 2024.
About You


  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate/graduate level engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial preferred
  • SolidWorks 3D CAD experience
  • MS Office Suite, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good planning and strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, and work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and follow work instructions
  • Enjoy working in a production environment with operators
  • Have a learning and continuous improvement attitude


About The Job


  • Assigned an individual project mentored by a lead engineer. 40%
  • Utilize 3D CAD software to update/create customer outline drawings and 3D models - 30%
  • Create/update technical information - 10%
  • Assist in creation of samples for product testing - 10%
  • Participate in product testing in lab. - 10%
  • Other duties as assigned


Assigned projects will focus on mechanical engineering with a heavy manufacturing environment. The Mechanical/Manufacturing Design Engineering Intern will work under limited supervision, with unlimited support, working on both basic and advanced engineering projects with general instruction. The intern will participate in the day-to-day activities in assigned functional area assisting in the completion of engineering tasks. The intern will have an opportunity to apply their knowledge to analyze, investigate, and resolve technical problems.
Mechanical/Manufacturing Design Engineering Intern is expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Experience Level
Summer intern
Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
Design, build club/project experience (i.e., SAE Formula and Baja)
Member of the SME, SAE, ASME, or other similar technical organization (a plus)
Previous manufacturing/operations experience (a plus)
Timeline
Mason Internship Program typically runs from May through August.

Work Schedule
Mason work schedule is a standard 40-hour work week. Typical working hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Compensation
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $26.00 - $28.00 an hour
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Mason reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
