Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, perform preventative maintenance programs, emergency repairs, maintenance work orders and Environment of Care (EOC) & Life Safety (LS) rounds. The ultimate goal of this position is to keep facility and surrounding campus in Constant Survey Readiness. Will be assigned duties based on primary geographical location.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily EOC and LS walks in assigned areas to identify areas of improvement. (20%)
  • Affect repairs to ensure assigned area meets EOC and LS standards. (10%)
  • Perform a variety of routine and emergency repairs and preventative maintenance to hospital buildings, community clinics, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds, keeping all areas in proper condition as directed. (10%)
  • Finishes: Maintain and repair floor and wall and ceiling covering (e.g. tiles, carpeting, paint, signs). (10%)
  • Provide general assistance to skilled tradesmen such as mechanics, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, painters, etc, as directed. (10%)
  • Electrical: Remove and replace duplux outlets and switches. Maintain and service lighting, bulbs and ballasts. (10%)
  • Plumbing: Service of plumbing fixtures, faucets, toilets and drains. (10%)
  • Basic carpentry: Hang shelves, fix doors and locks, drawers, cut and install ceiling tiles, etc. (10%)
  • Maintain established hospital and department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, environmental and infection control, & safety and comply with codes and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies (10%)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Work Experience:

  • Five years' experience in one or more of the following required: Maintenance, Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, or Paint shop.

Licenses:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic Understanding of the Elements of Performance for EOC and LS sections of The Joint Commission Standards
  • Knowledge and proper use of Infection/Dust Control and Intern life Safety Measures (ILSM)
  • Basic knowledge of all hand tools, equipment and machinery required to perform the jobs/tasks of a maintenance technician
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills that promote positive relations in dealing with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Able to work in a fast paced, changing and sometimes stressful environment where you must be flexible and learn quickly
  • Organizational skills, ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities
