The Sales Manager leads sales team and actively participates in all sales activities to meet established financial and unit volume objectives. This position establishes clear expectations to ensure team members focus on correct opportunities with a high degree of success in closing those opportunities; and fosters strong working relationships with external customers, project managers, production managers and team members to promote cooperation and success with projects and customer relations. In addition, the manager promotes the growth and development of team members; leads with the development of annual sales plans, sales/gross profit budgets and executing goals and objectives that are consistent with corporate strategy; maintains visibility in industry through involvement with OEM's, trade associations, customer events, vendor sales events, etc.; promotes continuous improvement of sales processes developing and applying Best Practices; and leads and supports the development of marketing strategies and materials that contribute to successful sales campaigns.

Essential Job Functions

1. Generates accurate proposals from quote requests, creates Requests for Quotes (RFQ's) as needed, provides timely follow up with customers, closes sales, and releases Service Plan to achieve financial objectives identified in the annual budgets. Supports others service sales team members in their sales efforts to foster "team selling". Consistently maintains high close ratio.

2. Promotes growth and development of assigned team members to promote team cohesiveness and trust by monitoring and evaluating team members' performance in a professional, positive, accurate and timely manner. Leads in the selection, hiring and staffing of team members. Recommends training needs and programs and identifies and recommends technical and non-technical training opportunities for team members. Participates in personal and leadership development opportunities and demonstrates leadership and professionalism.

3. Leads sales team in meeting financial goals and objectives. Provides oversight of all sales opportunities by managing priorities, developing and communicating individual and departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the sales team. Holds team members accountable to Duncan Aviation approved policies, procedures and Best Practices. Creates, monitors and reviews sales team annual budget. Researches, submits and reviews department's annual strategic plan.

4. Prepares accurate and detailed workscopes and works directly with Design, Engineering, and technical representatives to ensure successful completion of the workscope to the customer's expectations.

5. Leads and facilitates development of sales and marketing strategies that successfully contribute to meeting the financial objectives of the sales team.

6. Other duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements



  • Licenses: Must have a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; multiple night and short notice travel
  • Physical: Repetitive motion; tolerates sitting

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Architecture, Aviation, Industrial Design or related field or equivalent required
  • Minimum seven years sales, customer service, or sales management experience required
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Software (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.)
