The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute provides the best scientific research, education and clinical care integrating conventional and complementary medicine and strives to transform healthcare through the practice of integrative health by conducting rigorous research, promoting evidence-based treatment modalities, educating the public on well-being practices, providing individualized, patient-centered clinical care and providing services to the community that focus on obtaining optimal health.


Your Role on the Team

Confers with patient / client to assess physical condition and determines appropriate treatment / techniques. Delivers individualized treatment techniques including myofascial release, muscle energy, joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, neuromuscular stimulation, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, Neuromuscular field retraining, osteopathic manipulative therapy, and anti-inflammatory modalities as appropriate.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Advanced skill in administering manual massage therapy treatments to patients.
  • Advanced knowledge of massage therapy standards, concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to obtain information and work effectively with a diverse client group.
  • Advanced ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive matters involving injuries and treatments.
  • Advanced ability to evaluate information and detect changes in conditions.
  • Ability to interpret information and use it to effectively treat patients/ clients.
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize workload.
  • California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) certification
  • CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
  • Two years of experience as a massage therapist
  • Clinical internship experience in integrative or holistic physical therapy techniques and/or modalities including neuromuscular field awareness and Neuromuscular field retraining.

Preferred:

  • National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork certification (NCETM / TMB) preferred
