Position Description

The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is seeking an experienced and innovative Business Development and Marketing Manager to expand our transformative science education programs to new partners globally. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on global science literacy by driving a sustainable business model that forges strategic partnerships with educational institutions, government agencies, corporations, and non-profits. This role will play a key part in furthering CSHL's leadership in science education worldwide.


Position Responsibilities

  • Create and lead high-impact marketing initiatives to increase brand awareness and enhance the DNALC's position as a global leader in science education.
  • Partner with the DNALC Executive Director and senior leadership to identify and cultivate new business opportunities with high-impact partners across the globe.
  • Lead outreach efforts to secure partnerships with educational institutions, government entities, corporations, and non-profits that align with DNALC's mission and strategic goals.
  • Serve as the relationship manager for partner organizations, from initial outreach through program delivery and ongoing evaluation.
  • Manage all phases of program development at partner sites, including
    • legal agreements, facility design, and equipment procurement.
    • staff recruitment and training.
    • compliance with DNALC's best practices through annual reviews and reporting.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in life sciences, business administration, or marketing.
  • 5+ years of experience in science-related or non-profit business development, strategic partnerships, or project management.
  • Bioscience, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical background strongly preferred - understanding the scientific landscape will be key to engaging prospective partners.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into actionable business strategies.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally to meet prospective partners and oversee program implementation.
  • This role is based at our headquarters in Cold Spring Harbor and Brooklyn, New York.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
