What you will do: In this role, you will work within the Engineering Lab team that is part of the Unitary Products Group (UPG) for Johnson Controls. In this division we design, test, manufacture, and assemble heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment for the light commercial and residential markets. Johnson Controls has two plants for UPG with approximately 1000 employees each; one in Norman, OK and the other in Wichita, KS. This position will be located in the Norman, OK Engineering Lab and will report to the Lab Director. How you will do it:
- Perform daily visual inspections of equipment and record KPIs.
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures on equipment/systems as assigned.
- Perform repairs to equipment and systems and outsource to third party as necessary.
- Keep appropriate inventory of parts and supplies to expedite equipment and system repairs.
- Ensure all responsible areas are organized, clean and free of abnormal hazards.
- Timely communication with customers regarding the status of all maintenance and repairs performed.
- Verifies that equipment/systems have service/operator manuals and are properly filed.
- Repairs and maintains all lab facility equipment/systems to the stated performance and budgetary standard
- Coordinates and schedules all work/preventive maintenance performed in lab facility.
- Documents all preventive maintenance procedures as required
- Other duties as assigned.
What we look for: Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Multiple years related trade/discipline experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills
- Familiarity with a variety of HVAC systems: RTU's, air handlers, exhaust fans, chiller systems, boilers, etc.
- Ability to organize and manage tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills; effective and professional communication
- Proficiency using the Microsoft Windows operating system in conjunction with the following Microsoft Office modules: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
Preferred
- Associate degree or equivalent from college or technical school
- Mechanical Journeyman license with the State of Oklahoma
- HVAC training/certification with multiple years of experience
- State of Oklahoma boiler operator license
- Experience in hospital/school/factory mechanical rooms
- Skilled in mechanical equipment preventative maintenance and troubleshooting
- Ability to understand basic controls logic
- Ability to work in laboratory, manufacturing, and office environments
