Your impact

As a Test Engineer within the Production Engineering team, you will collaborate with production technicians, as well as hardware and software engineers and the entire operations team to ensure Intelsat's manufacturing processes are world-class to support production facilities across the globe. Our goal is to make sure that Intelsat's services are installed in as many applications as possible, and our team is the bridge between operations and the rest of the company. Our department allows the operations team to function as efficiently as possible at executing demand without having to worry about availability of infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Ownership over hardware solutions for all production test stands. This includes (but is not limited to) ensuring test stand compatibility alongside new software releases, validating new engineering documentation releases, and troubleshooting standard production problems.
  • Capture knowledge that exists within the production team by creating an FAQ guide for each test stand that shows how to troubleshoot common bench issues (both hardware and software related). This includes working with the production technicians to document lessons learned from past opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead the effort to complete documentation of all Manufacturing Work Instructions (MWIs). This will eliminate the proliferation of not documenting process steps and streamline product processing times.
  • Work with the Production Engineering team to continue marking and labeling all lab equipment. This is part of an overall initiative to continue the rollout of the "Parts Store," which is a lab we've built to store spare parts for our test stands to greatly reduce equipment downtime.
  • This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee). (remove if not applicable)
  • At the beginning of this role, there will be a need to work a non-standard shift (Tuesday-Saturday) for a period before transitioning back to a standard shift (Monday-Friday).
