The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Job Description Rev: 1/15/25 POSITION TITLE: Security Guard DEPARTMENT: Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (Kroc Center Hawaii) SUPERVISOR: Facilities Manager FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Hourly Pay Range $15 - $16 GENERAL STATEMENT: The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church, and the ultimate goal of all programs is a spiritual, emotional, and physical regeneration of all people. POSITION SUMMARY: A Security Guard with The Salvation Army is charged with maintaining a safe environment for all employees, clients, and visitors to the Kroc Center Hawaii. The position provides a visual security presence to ensure that members and guests have a safe and pleasant experience while visiting the Center. The position will also be responsible for facility monitoring during hours of operation as well as when closed. Candidate will all also execute emergency response procedures as required. The Security Guard will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
4. Be familiar with and understand the Center's Emergency Action Plan and evacuation procedures and conduct emergency procedures, as necessary. 5. Control crowds as required. 6. May be required, after warning people of infractions or violations, to apprehend or evict violators from premises. 7. Secure the Center's entrances at the end of operating hours. 8. Maintain a shift log. 9. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures. 10. Maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center Hawaii. 11. Attend staff meetings and other administrative meetings. 12. Maintain regular and punctual work attendance. 13. Monitor and adjust computerized lighting and timers. 14. Perform other duties as assigned. MENTAL DEMANDS:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 50-75 pounds and occasionally more than 75 pounds. This employee may also be required to work weekends, holidays and evenings. COMMUNICATION DEMANDS: The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephone; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies. The position requires the ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The position also requires the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee is regularly exposed to inside and outside work in all types of weather, i.e., wet, and/or humid conditions, heat or cold. EQUIPMENT NEEDS: Digital Camera Two-way radio/cell phone Security Duty Belt Fire Extinguisher (Golf Cart) Flashlight/Torch Mini First Aid Kit CERTIFICATES & LICENSES Must have current valid State of Hawaii Guard Card Certification or ability to attain the same within required time period for the following: First Aid, CPR, AED, and CIP (Crisis Intervention Program) CLEARANCES: A prospective candidate is also required to pass a criminal history information check.
