Overview The Operating Supervisor will be responsible for directing and supervising field forces for the physical installation, removal, repair, and replacement of underground cable in compliance with operating procedures, environmental laws, and PSC guidelines. Ensure the safe, timely, and efficient completion of work in accordance with engineering plans, project goals, and emergent needs. Meet the requirements set by OSHA, DOT, and the Company.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Supervise cable installation and removal for primary feeders, secondary mains, and customer services in the underground electric distribution system.
- Supervise weekly personnel and ensure that all work is performed in accordance with governing procedures.
- Foster a zero-accident culture, diversity and inclusion, and achieve operational excellence Develop an effective cost management culture and enhance the customer experience.
- Track the repair and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with operating, safety, environmental, and engineering procedures and specifications.
- Monitor and review quality and productivity while actively identifying cost saving initiatives.
- Maintain personnel schedules and training requirements.
- Conduct On-The-Job Training (OJT), job briefings, and safety inspections.
- Monitor compliance with Company policies and procedures such as Equal Employment Opportunity, substance abuse, discipline, security, code of conduct, environmental, and safety.
- Provide coverage for system emergencies and ICS events as needed.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant work experience or
- Associate's Degree and 4 years of relevant work experience or
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant work experience
Relevant Work Experience
- Must be extremely well organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines Required

- Supervisory experience. Preferred
- Experience with various applications such as Oracle, Net RMS, eGIS, and WMS applications. Preferred
- Training in emergency response, confined space entry, clear access, and HAZWOPER. Preferred
- Knowledge of cable installation and removal techniques and an understanding of the underground electric distribution system. Preferred

Physical Demands
- Must respond to system emergencies
- Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
- Must work in an environment that includes heat, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
- Must climb ladders and stairs
- Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
- Must be approved and able to wear either a full- or half-face respirator without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Must travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
- Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness
- Must work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
Additional Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
