Purpose of Position |
This position will provide overall Human Resources support with a primary focus on payroll. The incumbent will be responsible for efficiently processing both bi-weekly and monthly payrolls on a consistent cycle. Beyond routine payroll processing, the position entails a proactive approach to identifying and rectifying errors, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll data, providing responsive assistance to employees regarding payroll inquiries and concerns.
This multifaceted role not only ensures the smooth operation of payroll functions by serving as a frontline resource for employees, but also supports the broader goals of the Human Resources department in fostering a positive work environment, contributing to overall employee satisfaction and organizational effectiveness. |
Primary Responsibilities |
- Process accurate and timely payroll for both bi-weekly and monthly cycles, including addressing off-cycle runs, re-issues, and voids.
- Process garnishments while ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Process taxes and payments to federal, state, and local authorities accurately and on time to meet legal requirements.
- Provide support to time administrators, faculty, staff, and students on HR/payroll matters, contributing to efficient resolution of payroll-related inquiries and issues.
- Process vacation payouts, benevolent transfers, and requests for vacation to sick leave conversions, contributing to the smooth administration of leave policies.
- Facilitating the input of tax and direct deposit forms, and addressing employee questions related to these forms, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
- Collaborate closely with the HR team to maintain employee records and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations Assist with annual support pack, accrual, and SAP testing, ensuring payroll systems and processes are updated and compliant with organizational requirements. with annual support pack, accrual and other SAP testing as it relates to Payroll.
- Provide support to Human Resources functions, projects and tasks, as needed and assigned.

Qualifications |
- Experience running payroll at a complex organization.
- Understanding of payroll processing procedures, including but not limited to calculating wages, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to payroll, including Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), tax laws, and wage and hour regulations.
- High degree of professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data.
- Experience using an ERP Payroll system (preferably SAP or Workday).
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines while performing multiple tasks.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, problem solving, analytical skills and customer service orientation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
