We are looking for a Licensed Commercial HVAC Journeyman professional to join our Maintenance Team. Bring your knowledge, skills, experience, and passion to Creighton University. The Licensed Commercial HVAC Journeyman perform tests and analysis of data to assure the proper functioning of equipment and provide recommendations as appropriate. Includes working on air handler systems, digital control systems, refrigerant unites, heat pumps, VRGT (Variable Refrigerant Flow) and general repairs. Perform troubleshooting and repairs of motors, VFD's and other electrical systems. Provide support to maintain campus EMS (Energy Management System). Work with other shops to help troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control systems. Work with consultants to verify proper building operations as needed. Complete EMS Installations and repairs as directed. Work on building retro-commissioning.

The role will require availability for on-call duty which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, in case of emergencies.



  • Complete required preventative maintenance work orders. Includes, inspect, diagnose, repairing equipment. Provide suggestions for energy savings and deferred maintenance.
  • Provide HVAC repair, support and maintain building systems in proper operating condition. Working with control system adjusting and troubleshoot mechanical and energy management systems to maintain proper system control.
  • Complete computer-required tasks as needed and other duties as assigned including working weekends and during high academic times if needed.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some level of post-secondary education preferred (ie technical / trade school, college or university studies).
  • HVAC Journeyman's license required.
  • Require 5 years HVAC experience including installation, troubleshooting, operations, maintenance, and repair.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Basic computer skills necessary of MS Office suite and system control applications is required.
  • Strong Electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in service, troubleshoot, and cleaning refrigeration, heating and cooling equipment and related products.
  • Understands control operation, and sequence of operation for commercial HVAC systems
  • Strong focus on customer service and creating positive interactions with internal and external clients.
  • Must be highly motivated with high energy that excels in unique challenges and thrives under pressure efficiency.
  • Ability to be "on-call" on a rotational schedule.
  • Ability to work outside in various temperatures (summer/winter).
  • Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills with the understanding of cost and time.
  • Good written, verbal communication and organizational skills are required
  • Must be a self-starter that is able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to climb and work at heights of 20 feet and above.
  • Must be able to fulfill all requirements of the University respiratory projections program
  • Must be able to work on a flexible schedule and provide on-call responses.


Licenses/Certifications:



  • HVAC Journeyman's License
  • Associates degree and/or 5 or more years work experience required
  • Universal EPA Certification, required
  • 3rd Grade Stationary License preferred, not required.
  • Requires a valid and current driver's license for a minimum of 6 months, with a clean driving record for the last 3 years and no major violations within the last 5 years.


Additional Comments:

This job is mission essential personnel and will be needed to work as required. The work week may include weekends, holidays, and after-hours if needed. Shift differential applies to evening and overnight shifts.
