Mission

Reeves has an immediate need for an Assistant Quarry Manager at our Blacksburg Quarry in Blacksburg, SC. Responsibilities include directing operations, assuring that production schedules and customer demands are fulfilled, oversight for corrective and preventative maintenance, responsible for plant safety and complying with MSHA regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years supervisory experience in the mining industry (rock), including maintenance experience, material processing experience, and knowledge of MSHA regulations. Candidate will have strong leadership & problem-solving skills, solid communication skills and a positive work history. Strong commitment to safety is essential.

Main Responsibilities
  • Supervise and assign daily activities of mining
  • Perform safety and operational check on plant, equipment, and/or quarry pit
  • Prioritize, schedule and/or perform repairs with equipment manager or shop personnel
  • Coordinate and schedule preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Maintain records of major repairs and regular equipment maintenance
  • Work with Quality Control Manager to produce the appropriate rock to specification
  • Comply with company programs, such as safety, equal opportunity, drug and alcohol
  • Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly required reports
  • May purchase and maintain inventory of all plant parts, supplies, and/or explosives
  • Operate heavy equipment
  • Oversee special projects as needed
  • May act as back up quality control
  • Oversee contract labor activities
  • May assist plant manager in overall pit development
  • Responsible for the implementation and continued support of recommendations made/adopted by Reeves Continuous Improvement Teams.
  • All other duties as deemed necessary or assigned
Experience and Education
  • Minimum of 10 years prior experience in quarry, mining, earthmoving, or other related industry required.
  • Background in or knowledge of heavy machinery is helpful
  • Knowledge of crushing and processing plants
  • Knowledge of blasting (such as blasting patterns and products)
  • Prior management or supervisory experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
