Job Summary The Production Engineer role provides technical and engineering support for the Mulberry, FL site. In this role the engineer will be a technical resource for operational personnel, applies technical skills to optimize plant operation for both batch and continuous operating units, resolves problems, maintains a safe process environment, runs small projects and enables production of low-cost, high-quality products. This role is based in Mulberry, FL and requires manufacturing site presence to provide the required support. Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday with additional nights and weekends, as required. Travel less than 10%; some required for trainings. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Health, Safety, Environment
- Ensure plant is maintaining environmental, health and safety compliance for manufacturing processes.
- Participate in plant's Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) as a technical resource.
- Participate in HES initiatives provided by local site and Arkema Inc. (BBS, Observations, MOC, PSSR, etc.)
- Support and promote reporting of all health, safety and environmental, near-misses, accidents, injuries, etc.
- Maintain and report process data to ensure production units are run within regulatory limits.
- Support HES team on information gathering for annual reporting (tier II, air operating reports, REED).
Technical Support
- Monitor, report and manage daily production metrics
- Coordinate with cross functional teams (maintenance, engineering, customer service, supply chain) to plan and schedule down days for maintenance and capital upgrades while meeting customer expectations.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing for problem solving, quality concerns and plant trials.
- Maintain and improve operational efficiency (OEE/OAU) measurements for batch and continuous production units.
- Supports large scale capital projects by providing data and reviewing proposals and plans, as required.
- Implement small capital projects, as required.
- Develop standard operating procedures for consistent and repeatable manufacturing.
- Train plant employees on procedures and proper use of existing and new process equipment.
- Perform root cause investigations (RCI) and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
Quality
- Collaborate with quality team to investigate product non-conformances.
- Analyze trends and implement improvements to improve first pass quality.
Minimum Qualifications and Education Required:
- 2 years of experience in manufacturing environment required
- Bachelor's degree in engineering; Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
Experience Required:
- 2 years of chemical process engineering experience required
- Competence and knowledge of process control system required
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- MOC work process knowledge preferred
- Root cause investigation (RCI) experience preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) is required.
- Strong plant technical knowledge including knowledge of process equipment operation is required.
- Ability to read Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams required
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Chemical manufacturing environment. This role requires extended time in the plant with routine lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, crouching, standing and walking.
- This role requires computer work in an office environment that may require sitting for long periods of time.
- Occasional travel to corporate or other sites
- Key position within plant that works with all departments
- Direct daily involvement with most activities in the facility
- Part of rotating on call rotation for off hour support
