Are you a passionate mechanical engineer eager to contribute to groundbreaking biomedical imaging research? Join the dynamic team at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging-a world-renowned top research center affiliated with Harvard, MIT, and Massachusetts General Hospital.
In this role, you will collaborate with leading faculty and an innovative engineering team to design and fabricate cutting-edge biomedical imaging devices. You'll play a pivotal part in establishing our new Rapid Prototyping Lab, gaining hands-on experience with state-of-the-art prototyping technologies, and directly impacting healthcare solutions.

Licenses and Credentials

Experience
Experience in device engineering in a hospital, industry, or academic 1-2 years preferred and Experience in medical engineering 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Enthusiastic about hands-on fabrication and innovation.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate results. Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Onshape, Fusion, etc.).
  • Familiarity with programming languages like MATLAB or Python.
  • Knowledge of FEA/FEM tools for mechanical analysis.


DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design & Fabrication: Utilize CAD and CAM software to model and fabricate mechanical parts and assemblies for biomedical imaging devices.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Employ additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques to develop imaging devices and components.
  • Simulation & Analysis: Use mechanical and electromagnetic simulation tools for device optimization and problem-solving.
  • Electronics Support: Assist in designing PCBs, creating medical-compatible enclosures, and testing electronic circuits.
  • Lab Development: Collaborate on developing the new Rapid Prototyping Lab and deploying its services across Massachusetts General Hospital.
  • Documentation: Thoroughly document all work to ensure reproducibility and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
