Position Title: Inside Sales Clerk

Location: Northbrook, IL

Shift: Monday - Friday: 1st Shift

Position Overview

The Inside Sales Clerk reports to the Customer Service Supervisor. The purpose of this position is to support customer requests through quoting, technical support, sample processing and ensuring customer satisfaction. This person needs to be highly analytical and able to read and understand blueprints in order to accurately quote new business. In addition this job requires frequent customer interaction through face-to-face meetings as well as over the phone. Utilization of resources and company personnel to troubleshoot, learn and execute on tasks is a must. A good candidate is organized and able to complete tasks as directed by management as well as being self driven.

Primary Responsibilities:

This individual will be the front line to customers and will work with them both via phone and email. Portraying a positive, professional, friendly and helpful company image is critical. This position has a variety of responsibilities required to manage, grow and solicit new business to meet their assigned customer's needs and expectations including, but not limited to:

50% QUOTATIONS

  • Manage Quotation email inbox for fast and professional response to customers.

  • Review blueprints and quote new parts alongside Sales Manager.

  • Discuss processing capabilities with production team to quote special parts.

  • Calculate required revenue based on opportunity size and scope.

30% ORDER REVIEW

  • Review incoming PO's to ensure pricing matches quoted pricing

  • Identify incoming orders that are priced incorrectly and professionally contact customers to change price.

  • Locate quotes to customers to update system pricing.

20% VARIABLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take customer phone calls to help provide product information

  • Manage incoming customer samples and ensure processing is done within quoted timeframe

  • Follow up on large quote opportunities

  • Accompany Sales Manager on visits at customer locations and trade shows

  • Assist with internal customer visits

  • Support general functions of the business and complete tasks as assigned by Mgmt.

IN SUPPORT OF PRIMARY DUTIES

QUOTATION MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure quotes are responded to within 2 hours of receipt.

  • Notify customers of any deviations taken on the quote.

  • Work with Sales Manager to learn and understand pricing structure.

  • Organize customer follow ups on lucrative quote opportunities.

  • Help build learning tools and aids to assist with quoting efforts.

ORDER REVIEW

  • Utilize analytical skills to review Customer Purchase Orders for accuracy.

  • Communicate effectively and professionally regarding customer pricing discrepancies.

  • Work with Quality & Production Departments to get ahead of potential order issues.

VARIABLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects to ensure they are completed on time.

  • Help plan, coordinate and execute on customer presentations.

  • Work alongside Customer Service folks to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Contribute to the safety team and participate in safety audits.

  • Exemplify the can-do attitude

MARKETING

  • Assist in executing new or changes to existing Sales and Marketing programs through our customers, Sales, and Operations.

SERVICE, COMMUNICATION & TEAMWORK

  • Improve service through continually meeting and interacting with our customers and other internal departments to maintain your knowledge of products, programs, customer's needs, new products, stock availability and the production plan.

  • Actively participate on teams. Contributing skills and appropriate knowledge to drive to solutions and results.

PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE

  • Know our product lines, their distribution channels, the benefits of our products, basic technical knowledge and competitive information, etc., for the products we manufacture, apply and distribute.

PROCESS, POLICY & STANDARDS

  • Knowledge and compliance to all pertinent processes, policies and standards, both departmental and company-wide, needed to perform your primary responsibilities.

The individual in this position is also required to provide complete support and back-up to the Customer Service team during times of absence or as needed to complete workflow. And also aid the department by answering the telephone and responding to emails, and other inquiries and requests required to assist in the proper completion of all Customer Service responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency

  • Minimum 1-2 years Sales, Marketing or Customer Service related experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Advanced PC skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows, typing and 10-key data entry

  • Excellent communication skills: written, telephone, speaking, reading and listening

  • Individuals in the position must be results oriented, organized, able to multi-task, work in a fast paced team environment and possess a strong customer-focused attitude: highly personable, accurate, relates well with people, service oriented, and a positive attitude.

  • Ability to meet and exceed customer satisfaction, and resolve dissatisfaction

  • Effectively manage work situation of moderate degree of complexity, which could impact company image and/or sales dollars and cost

  • General office equipment: fax, copier, scanner, etc.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Associates degree

  • Experience in Manufacturing environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $23.50 - $25.50.
