The Compliance Supervisor provides leadership and technical assistance to operations by managing food safety and compliance systems as well as by instilling regulatory awareness and commitment. The Compliance Supervisor will perform fact-based assessments and audits on manufacturing systems. They will ensure all Quality and Food Safety Systems and processes are in compliance with all Federal, State, and other regulatory requirements. They also assist in the development of new quality systems, internal regulation, and personnel management.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Responsible for the effective operation of the HACCP system and Pre-Requisite Program, by ensuring they are timely updated and maintained as Food Safety member Leader.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting indicators linked to compliance of CCP's and OPRP's.
  • Assist with the creation of training related to the HACCP system. Will also be responsible for delivering training to all site employees.
  • Coordinates the activities of the Food Safety Team, scheduling the review meetings and follow up on actions needed to maintain the HACCP program.
  • Co-Leads all internal and external auditing activities and follow-up actions. Assures the plant maintains compliance with external standards such as ISO 9001, FSSC 22000 and customer standards.
  • Member of the Change Control Board and co-leads when required. Manages requests that impact the HACCP System
  • Assists in the identification and achievement of facility KPI's through appropriate corrective/preventative actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assists in the analysis of information related to the performance of the Quality and Food Safety System. Routinely report on the effectiveness and suitability of the system to the Quality Manager and Plant Director.
  • Provide Quality support for plant projects and initiatives in the manufacturing environment. Approves the engineering validation protocols.
  • Participates in Food Safety Investigations and Foreign Materials analysis.
  • Responsible for the manufacture of safe, quality food observing all Good Manufacturing Practices, being alert for bioterrorism and reporting off standard or abnormal conditions.
  • Inspect and audit the operation in all phases of quality performance observing Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Sanitation Practices.

Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, food science, dairy science, food engineering or food technology or equivalent years of experience

Experience:

  • 5+ years minimum experience in dairy production and/or food industry- cheese experience preferred.
  • 2 years minimum experience supervisor or team lead experience required.

Specialized knowledge:

  • GFSI (FSSC 22000 preferred), FDA, USDA, NYS regulations
  • Cheese chemistry knowledge preferred.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Effective and proficient communicator, both written and verbal
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to manage time through efficient planning and organizing of daily work.
  • People Management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate direction and new methodology to plant employees of all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects in a changing, complex environment.
  • Collaborative & pragmatic mindset.
