Controls Engineer
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Controls Engineer will be the Controls System Owner and support the overall manufacturing process through the ownership of programming and troubleshooting equipment throughout the manufacturing plants. The Controls Engineer will also be responsible for coordinating and implementing engineering changes and assisting various departments with the implementation of new tools and process and required training. The Controls Engineer will have responsibility of the Electronics & Instrumentation technicians who will be supporting the plants in installation, troubleshooting, and updating equipment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
Bachelors degree in a related technical field
Kind & Length of Experience:
3-5 years of controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
At least 6 months of experience in a customer facing role.
Strong team work capabilities, operating in a multifunction environment to collectively improve operations and resolve related issues
Ability to balance multiple projects
Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with good communication skills with ability to work in a high output environment
Experience and skill in trouble shooting control system issues
Familiar with Industry Standards
Hands on approach to engineering
Safety management
PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND STANDARDS


  • Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles
  • Respond to any equipment downtime issues throughout the organization and establish any required outside resources to assist in responding to these issues quickly
  • Train and develop E&I technicians and maintenance personnel to increase their skill level to understand and troubleshoot controls related issues in the plants
  • Resolve operational problems related to projects to minimize delays or unexpected cost increases
  • Power up electrical systems and configure hardware per application specifications
  • Support new equipment design reviews when required to review status of the machine design and provide input in reference to the plants specifications and good design practice


  • Follow established principles to document engineering changes (e.g., Engineering Change Notifications, Management of Change)
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned process engineering projects;
  • Determine process specifications by studying project design, customer requirements, performance standards through technical research to prepare cost estimates;
  • Prepare status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends to support improvement recommendations;
  • Liaise with Project Managers to create multiple capital forecasts and budgets throughout the year per organizational need;
  • Provide input to site's capital budgeting process;
  • Calculate and present cost-savings opportunities across organization and to customers, as directed, for proposed cost-reduction initiatives to respective management teams;
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of 24/7 remote support;
  • Complete all required training assignments;
  • Adhere to all environmental, health, safety, and security requirements covered under local, state, and federal regulations;
  • Follow all RC14001 guiding principles, policies, procedures, and other requirements.
