SUMMARY

New England Revolution is looking for a passionate individual for a Sports Performance Associate position to support the Performance Department and the Academy with a strong focus on On-Field protocols, Strength & Conditioning, Data Analysis, and other Performance-related duties. The Sports Performance Associate assists and implements protocols and procedures to monitor all facets of athlete well-being, on and off field; applies scientific knowledge to improve performance and prevent injury of Academy athletes; assists with return to participation of injured athletes; assists in the management of the Strength & Conditioning facility.

As a part-time employee, the Sports Performance Associate will directly work under the supervision of the Academy Sports Performance Coach, in collaboration with the Academy Coaching Staff and report to the Director of Sports Performance.

Ideal applicants will attend all team functions (training sessions & matches) and work in the facility during the day, in addition to occasionally traveling with teams for away events. This will amount to approximately 20 hours per week. Opportunities for advancement within the New England Revolution staff are possible based on business need and performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




  1. Assist with providing direction through monitoring all players wellness, training, match, and strength & conditioning programs to improve players' performance.



  2. Assist in performing daily warm-up activities in conjunction with the needs of the Sports Performance Coach and Coaching Staff.



  3. Collaborate in the designing and administering of individualized pre-training activation protocols and post-training strength sessions in collaboration with Sports Performance Coach.



  4. Design and implement field and gym programs under the supervision of the Sports Performance Coach.



  5. Coordinate with the sports medicine staff regarding injured and/or rehabilitating players to modify and individualize training programs; assist with the return to participation of injured athletes.



  6. Test and evaluate players' physical performance and create reports for coaches and players under the guidance of the Academy Sports Performance Coach.



  7. Assist in the collection and analysis performance data sets, including but not limited to readiness to train, wellness, training, fatigue monitoring, and match data.



  8. Collaborate with Performance Staff in the education and counseling of athletes regarding strategies to improve nutrition, physical conditioning, injury prevention and off-season programming.



  9. Demonstrate interpersonal skills required to work effectively with players, coaches, and other team personnel.



  10. Comply with all MLS medical policies, protocol, and Game Operations Manuals.



  11. Attend in house Sports Performance meetings.



  12. Special projects and assignments as business dictates.



  13. Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.





SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES




  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.





SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS




  • Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field (Or in pursuance of).



  • 1 year of related experience.



  • CSCS certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.



  • Experience designing training reports through Excel, Tableau (Preferred).



  • Experience using technologies such as: Catapult GPS & Heart Rate Technology (Preferred).



  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.



  • Knowledge and experience in the implementation of strength & conditioning programs in youth level athletes.



  • Knowledge in the following areas: strength training, Olympic lifts, plyometrics, speed development, conditioning, flexibility, injury prevention, nutrition, and strength & conditioning equipment.



  • Knowledge of medical terminology.



  • Knowledge of Spanish (Preferred)



  • Flexible work schedule with the ability to work evenings, nights, weekend, and holydays if required by team schedule.



  • Ability to travel around Massachusetts on weekends. Opportunities will also arise for out-of-state travel.

  • CSCS certification (Preferred or in pursuance of).



  • CPR/First Aid certification
