Position Summary:

The Customer Finance Support Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective operations of the department; motivating, coaching, and hiring Customer Finance Support Specialists. Responsible for formulating and executing Customer Credit and Collections strategy. Responsible for attaining all CFS related KPIs including but not limited to Days Sales Outstanding, Past Due Percentages, and Percentage of Cash Equipment deals collected at delivery. Proactively interacts with Customers, Sales Management and Territory Representatives to facilitate collection of trade accounts receivable. Ensures that efficient CFS related processes and workflow tools are effectively deployed.

  • Ability to supervise staff in both cash applications and credit & collections for a national or multi-state commercial business with a direct sales force and annual revenues of $100+ million
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Effectively coaches department staff members in the resolution of complex collection issues. Provides leadership and coaching that fosters an environment of problem solving, improved business practices, and attracts and retains superior talent. Continually recruit, train, and develop a first-class team.
  • Develops effective policies for the extension of credit which minimize the Company's bad debts without unduly impeding sales.
  • Corresponds appropriately and effectively with customers on credit & collections matters whether through letters, emails, phone contact, or personal visits in a manner that maintains satisfactory customer relationships and results in payments.
  • Develops effective working relationships with the sales force and regional and district managers.
  • Proactively drives compliance with Equipment collections policy through continual collaboration with Equipment sales management and staff.
  • Facilitates the collections process for the sales force and regional managers by ensuring that appropriate and accurate data concerning past due accounts is provided on a timely basis.
  • Conducts effective training programs in credit and collection policy and procedures, for Sales management and staff.
  • Effectively performs follow up after accounts are referred to collection agencies by performing duties such as providing copies of invoices and purchase orders to collection agency, and providing information to lawyers.
  • Assists in budgeting and forecasting bad debt and DSO and maintains actual bad debt and DSO levels within or below budgeted targets.
  • Minimizes the Company's credit exposure and losses on financing programs.
  • Maintains and distributes DSO benchmark data for major competitors.
  • Manages outside Collection Agency relationship and bank assisted payment plan relationships.
  • Collaboratively manages the credit and collections activities of large Corporate Accounts as a member of the Credit Committee along with the VP Treasurer and VP Strategic Markets. Sets work flow standards and priorities for the collections staff.
  • Determines, maintains, and utilizes appropriate productivity and efficiency metrics in the credit & collections departments.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field
  • 4-6 years of management experience
