Wilson Elser iscurrently seeking aSenior Complex Litigation Attorneywith experience in general liability, personal injury, transportation, and/or catastrophic injury.This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys with 8+ years of litigation experience, to grow in their careers with exposure to a wide variety of prominent national clients and by taking on substantial litigation responsibilities. Working directly with in-house counsel, the attorney in this role will have the exciting opportunity to interact directly with sophisticated clients that we represent, as well as with teams of our own talented, experienced professionals. This position will be located in our Phoenix office. Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage a diverse litigation caseload from inception through resolution, including trial, mediation, and settlement negotiations.
- Strategically develop case themes and litigation strategies in collaboration with partners and clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Regularly handle trial preparation, court appearances, depositions, mediations, and motions practice, ensuring thorough case development.
- Conduct complex legal research and draft high-quality pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda to support case strategy and advocacy.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing proactive counsel, case updates, and risk assessments, while fostering strong relationships.
- Collaborate with in-house counsel and corporate clients on high-stakes litigation matters, offering strategic insights and recommendations.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and associates, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
- Engage in business development efforts by participating in client meetings, industry conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance the firm's presence.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice in Arizona and in good standing with the State Bar.
- 8+ years of defense litigation experience, with a focus on personal injury, general liability, catastrophic injury, transportation, and other civil litigation matters (plaintiff-side experience also considered if relevant).
- Proven ability to handle complex litigation cases independently, including depositions, motions, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Exceptional advocacy, negotiation, and case management skills, with a strategic approach to litigation.
- Strong client-facing experience, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with in-house counsel and corporate clients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Legal project management experience is a plus, including the ability to drive cases forward efficiently.
- First-chair trial experience is a strong advantage but not required-candidates with significant second-chair trial experience will also be considered.
