Reports to: VDC Manager

ROLE OVERVIEW

The VDC Specialist is responsible for implementing Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) processes throughout the design and construction phases of diverse projects. This role is pivotal in leading MEP/FP BIM coordination efforts and managing teams across a varied portfolio of projects, including different building types, sizes, owners, and locations. The VDC Specialist ensures the integration of advanced VDC/BIM methodologies to enhance project efficiency and accuracy. This is not a comprehensive list, and other duties may be assigned. RESPOSIBILITIES:

  • BIM Coordination:

    • Lead MEP/FP BIM coordination processes to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems within project models.
    • Facilitate collaboration between design teams, trade superintendents, and trade drafters to maintain model accuracy and consistency.

  • Clash Detection & Resolution:

    • Conduct clash detection using industry-standard software (e.g., Navisworks).
    • Direct trades in resolving identified conflicts, ensuring timely and efficient corrections to maintain project schedules.

  • Model Development:

    • Create and manage detailed CAD and Revit models, as needed for projects.
    • Generate composite documentation for specific areas of work, consolidating information for comprehensive project records.

  • Site Coordination:

    • Perform site walkthroughs when necessary to verify existing conditions and update models accordingly.
    • Collaborate with on-site teams to gather accurate data for model enhancements.

  • Project Meetings & Communication:

    • Actively participate in project coordination meetings with MEP Superintendents and Trade Drafters.
    • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and address any project-related concerns.

  • Quality Assurance:

    • Submit Coordination Sign-Off Forms and maintain accurate records of all coordination activities.
    • Ensure all VDC/BIM processes adhere to company standards and industry best practices.

  • Continuous Improvement & Training:

    • Stay updated with the latest advancements in VDC/BIM technologies and software applications.
    • Assist in the development and delivery of internal training modules and presentations to enhance team capabilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • 5+ years of experience in a related role at an MEP firm, subcontractor, general contractor (GC), or architecture firm.
  • Basic understanding of construction phasing and logistics is preferred.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage complex tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve efficiently under deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for interfacing with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities to address challenges proactively.
  • Preferred Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks.
    • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Point Cloud, and ReCap.
    • Experience with Dynamo, Grasshopper, Twinmotion, and Navisworks for parametric modeling and simulation is a plus.
    • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Related experience in a similar role is a plus.



Salary Range

Desired salary range $70,000- $90,000
