Overview

Con Edison's Talent Management- Organizational Development (OD) team is seeking a strategic, innovative, and self-driven Section Manager to direct the activities of a dynamic team of OD professionals in designing and implementing OD, leadership development, performance management, and conflict management strategies, programs, and initiatives. In this role, you will think strategically about the audience and larger context, to ensure we can support the Con Edison team across a variety of different functions and stages in their careers to continually move the business and our people forward.The OD Section Manager will collaborate with key stakeholders across the enterprise on all levels to assess needs and spearhead the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that foster a culture of continuous development, professional growth, inclusion and organizational effectiveness. This role will serve as a resident expert responsible for driving organizational change using best practices related to Human Capital Development, organizational performance assessments, organizational culture, and team development.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Direct the activities of a dynamic team of OD professionals (employees and contractors) in designing and implementing high quality OD strategies, programs, and initiatives. Think strategically about the audience and larger context, to ensure we can support the Con Edison team across a variety of different functions and stages in their careers to continually move the business and our people forward.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the enterprise on all levels and peers to assess needs and lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that foster a culture of continuous development, professional growth, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Serve as the resident expert responsible for driving organizational change using best practices related to Human Capital Development in areas that include leadership development, emotional intelligence, inclusion, organizational culture, and team development. Model the desired behaviors in thee areas at all times.
  • Envision, develop and execute overall strategy for OD team, including key programs, initiatives, curricula, and activities in the companys leadership development portfolio ranging from Executive Coaching, Leadership Development for first line and mid-level managers; Change Management; Performance Management; Conflict Management; Career Management; Mentoring; Sponsorship; Tuition Aid; External Vendor Contract Management, and OD services, offsites and other solutions in alignment with business priorities and desired outcomes.
  • Drive the realization of organizational efficiencies, excellence and improvements to ways of working through the development and delivery of workshops, employee forums, playbooks, programs, webinars, eLearning, instructor led training and other services. Act as a change agent responsible for developing and implementing organizational effectiveness strategies for all levels of leadership and employees by using an influential and innovative approach to affect major organizational initiatives, and address various needs associated with organizational change.
  • Own, curate and manage a broad range of OD programs and services for all employees, including leadership, performance management, conflict management, emotional intelligence, communication, and career management courses. Identify the most efficient and cost-effective methods for developing and delivering these programs.
  • Research and design OD projects and leadership development programs through identification of industry best practices to maintain state-of-the-art Leadership and Career Development Programs and where applicable, contract with outside consultants/vendors.
  • Exhibit strong project management skills, with the ability to manage and deliver multiple projects with minimal guidance on time and on budget, as well as ability to exercise a high degree of accuracy with multiple details.
  • Lead with a high level of professional maturity, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, inclusion and a solid work ethic.
  • Stay abreast of a wide range of organizational performance assessments and OD industry best practices.
  • Bring entrepreneurial spirit that enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability and ease communicating, liaising with, and presenting to executives and leaders as well as a diverse employee population; excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Facilitate career development process/meetings with the executive leadership team to identify a diverse pool of candidates to support the company's succession planning.
  • Maintain a cadre of guest speakers and subject matter experts for events.
  • Partner with organizations to develop/deliver planning days, offsite and team-building sessions.
  • Plan, assign, monitor and evaluate work of assigned staff; plan, direct, implement and evaluate training and development activities of each OD team member for continuous improvement and growth and to maintain deep bench strength.
  • Conduct and coordinate data collection for special projects, including research, surveys, meetings, focus groups, etc.
  • Create and implement tools to capture data to help monitor and measure volume and effectiveness of training, services and interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Standards of Business Conduct and EEO policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Support the implementation of and adherence to safety, health and environmental programs in accordance with company policy and government regulations.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree 8 years relevant work experience. or
  • Master's Degree 6 years relevant work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, oral and written communication skills. Required
  • Demonstrated high energy level, flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments while working under tight deadlines. Required
  • Strong organizational, administrative, decision making and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and a solid teamwork orientation. Required
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor, confidence dealing with all levels of management/union personnel and the ability to work with sensitive and confidential information. Required
  • Demonstrated proven leadership skills, the ability to coach, motivate, develop and direct the activities of a team of high performing professionals. Required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise discretion and sound judgment while providing quality customer service. Required
  • Experience developing and implementing one or more of the following programs in OD, strategic planning, employee and management training, conflict resolution, leadership and career development, performance management, coaching, process facilitation, organizational intervention or other areas aimed at strategically improving the performance of an organization and its employees, preferred.
  • Knowledge of OD theory, preferred.
  • Experience with design, development and implementation of learning and development, preferred.
  • Certification in the administration and interpretation of behavioral assessments, i.e. Meyers Briggs Type Indicator, 360 assessments, DiSC, preferred.
Licenses And Certfications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
