The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary The SIM Center Technician I provides technical support for the daily operations of the Simulation Center (SIM Center), ensuring the proper setup, maintenance, and operation of simulation equipment. The Technician I plays a hands-on role in operating computerized manikins, task trainers, and multimedia peripherals during simulation sessions. In addition to technical duties, this role supports simulation room logistics and works closely with faculty and learners to ensure smooth and efficient simulation-based training. Responsibilities Technical Operation and Support:
- Program and operate simulation scenarios using computerized manikins and task trainers during simulation sessions.
- Provide technical support for audio/video equipment, including displays, monitors, control panels, projects, and associated devices during simulation sessions.
- Monitor and troubleshoot medical simulation, such as anesthesia machines and patient monitors, ensuring they are working order.
- Performance routine maintenance and updates to simulation equipment and inventory, identifying any equipment that needs replacement or repair.
Equipment Management:
- Assist in the preparation and setup of simulation equipment for teaching sessions, which may include moving equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. Support faculty and staff with the operation of equipment troubleshooting, repair, and system problems.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, repairs, and maintenance schedules, ensuring all systems are functional for simulation sessions.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of simulation activities, including statistics on equipment use and training conducted at the SIM Center.
- Provide reports on equipment status, simulation activities, and educational outcomes to SIM Center management.
People:
- Train faculty, facilitators, and other staff in the different simulation technologies and the operational aspects of simulation as well as the operation of AV equipment and technologies used in SIM Center trainings.
- Support collaborative research and certification projects for the SIM Center as requested, including assisting faculty with abstracts, educational presentations, poster printing, conference workshops, and manuscripts for publication.
Other:
- Be available to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to support simulation activities.
- Provide backup technical support during simulation sessions when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with room scheduling software or database programs (e.g Line, R25, OASIS)
- Prior experience in a healthcare or academic simulation environment.
Other Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience working in the health care field or simulation.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to support interactions with learners and other stakeholders as well as SIM Center Management and Staff.
- Familiarity with selection, implementation, use, and maintenance of simulation and related monitoring equipment.
- Familiarity with the operation of personal computers is essential, particularly e-mail and Windows Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
- Familiarity with audio visual equipment is also highly desirable.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn medical terminology
