Position Purpose: To oversee the daily activities of the Maintenance Shop included supervision of the Shop Mechanics. Coordinate, lead and practice safe work habits and promote a positive safety culture.

Essential Responsibilities

* Supervises Shop Mechanics engaged with the diagnosis, inspection and repairs of diesel engines, gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, compressors, generators, suspensions, brakes, transmissions, fuel injection systems, ignition systems and air tools

* Coordinates the inspection and repairs to mechanical equipment and addresses deficiencies

* Demonstrates safety leadership by supporting the implementation and management of the MJE Safety Management System. Promotes proactive and preventive safety activitiesby observing,analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors,andcorrecting unsafe conditions. Integrates safety intowork plans, establishes safety goals,reinforces safety policies and procedures, supports safetytraining, and monitors safety metrics. Supports and coaches employees, provides feedback to encourage learning and creates awareness, sets priorities and focuses on continuous safety improvement.

* Oversees the shop maintenance facility to include personnel, parts inventory, cleanliness, work orders, environmental compliance

* Coordinates the annual D.O.T. & crane Inspections

* Coordinates the replacement and repair of damaged components

* Oversees the performance of vehicle preventative maintenance

* Provides broad support to the MJE Health & Safety Department

Knowledge | Skills | Abilities

* Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and diagrams

* Basic understanding of DOT Regulations

* Good organizational and recordkeeping skills

* Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout a geographical area

* Proficient in the use of diagnostic and testing equipment

* Customer service skills

Qualifications

* High School Diploma or Equivalent. (Education beyond High School would be preferred)

* 5 years heavy equipment supervisory mechanical and or maintenance experience

Work Environment

* Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, reaching

* The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

* Occasionally lifting 40 pounds
