About the opportunity
SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Site Coordinator (HR Title = Assistant Staff Biologist) to support the Flagstaff, Arizona office's Southwestern Willow Flycatcher studies located along the Lower Colorado River. These are temporary, hourly positions. Start date is 1 May 2025 and is non-negotiable; end date mid- to late July 2025 Compensation and Schedule: $20.26 to $27.72 per hour, plus $5.36 per hour fringe benefit. Work schedule for each 2-week period is 80 hours on and the remaining days off. Housing and vehicles provided. Mileage reimbursement is provided for work-related use of personal vehicles. What you will accomplish For assistant staff and staff biologists, a key element of your job may be to supervise a small crew while conducting environmental fieldwork. This includes:
Primary field duties will include conducting standardized early morning broadcast surveys, mapping and monitoring territories, and resighting flycatchers to look for leg bands. Additional field duties include preparing qualitative descriptions of vegetation conditions, assisting with deploying radio transmitters on flycatchers, and tracking radio tagged birds. Daily computer data entry required. In addition to field tasks, the Site Coordinator is responsible for coordinating field logistics across multiple sites, proofing data, completing administrative tasks, and promoting compliance with SWCA's safety program.
