Sterile Processing Technician Lead

The Sterile Processing Technician Lead supports with properly sterilizing medical equipment and instruments in order to comply with safety standards and provide quality patient care. This role also ensures that decontamination procedures follow appropriate policies, that any sterilization malfunctions are reported effectively, and that any instruments found to be defective or broken are removed.


Supports with sterilizing instrument sets, trays, and packaged items correctly in order to ensure safe patient care.
Participates in cleaning and decontaminating instruments and equipment according to department policies and manufacturer's recommendations while using standard precautions procedures to ensure safety.
Assembles instruments in accordance with sterilization requirements and inspects instruments for any defective/broken or missing components and replaces as needed.
Assembles, wraps and sterilizes instrument sets and trays following inventory list maintaining accuracy and quality control.
Uses standard precautions in handling contaminated items or instruments and applies hazardous waste policies as needed.
Analyzes and records results of sterilization with every cycle completely and accurately to ensure compliance with safety procedures.
Maintains adequate inventory of instruments, supplies, and equipment in order to monitor supply expiration dates.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 3 years of experience in Sterile Processing or a related field

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Will accept any one of the following credentials: Certified Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) or Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT)
