This role, reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications, is essential for administering, developing, and enhancing the ServiceNow platform to meet organizational needs. Responsibilities include collaboration with IT teams and stakeholders, adherence to governance standards, and proactive problem resolution to maintain platform stability. Additionally, the position involves mentoring team members and identifying improvement opportunities to drive platform innovation.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...



  • Administering and maintaining the ServiceNow platform, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Design, build, deliver and support additional ServiceNow modules to meet evolving business needs, e.g. ITSM, ITOM, Security, HR, andor custom applications
  • In conjunction with the ServiceNow Architect creating the IT specifications for assigned services, including overall designs, architectures, topologies and configuration of infrastructure, environment, applications and data, and design.
  • Developing and customizing ServiceNow workflows, business rules, UI policies, client scripts, and integrations using JavaScript, Glide Record, Flow Designer, Script Includes, and other ServiceNow development tools, as needed
  • Leveraging Automated Test Framework (ATF) and conducting thorough testing of newly implemented modules to ensure they meet business requirements
  • Coordinating and executing platform upgrades, apply ITIL best practices, and maintain updated documentation for configurations and processes
  • Maintaining expert technical knowledge of all assigned ServiceNow product capabilities and the technical and business frameworks in which they operate
  • Participating in the resolution of major incidents and problems related to ServiceNow. Making strategic decisions in relation to solving problems with Production solutions and services
  • Analyzing problems by relying on observations and empirical data
  • Strategizing with other resources in developing KPIs and dashboards relative to solution performance and service operation


The successful candidate will demonstrate...



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or experience equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience implementing, administering, and supporting ServiceNow
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) is preferred
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of multiple ServiceNow modules. Flow Designer, Glide Record, Business Rules, Scripting
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and REST API integrations
  • Preferred experience with Automated Test Framework (ATF) for quality assurance
  • Strong understanding of ITSM/ITIL frameworks
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with project management tools and strong time management skills


Pay Range for Candidates in Baltimore, MD & Chicago, IL:

$109,000 - 165,000 per year

Pay Range for Candidates in Washington, DC:

$114,000 - $170,000 per year

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location.
