CTD Temporary Summer Program Assistant (Residential Activities Manager)

CTD Academic Summer Camp at Northwestern University

The Residential Activities Manager (RAM) develops the schedule, training, and student-sign up system for Saturday Excursions. With the support of the office staff, the RAM inventories residential supplies and creates schedules of weekday and weekend activities for the residential director staff, submitting orders for any supplies that are needed to support that schedule. The RAM upholds CTD and NU policies among staff.

Employment Dates and Stipend

Full time work May 5 to August 8, 2025

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, May 5 to June 27, 2025

Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, July 1 through August 8, 2025

Hourly Compensation: $22/hr.; max of 37.5 hours weekly

Qualifications

  • Current or past enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Experience working with students in a camp setting.
  • Experience using cloud sharing tools, such as Google Drive, SharePoint, etc.
  • Training or background in identifying and addressing social and emotional needs of students.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional demeanor; motivated, flexible and adaptable.
  • A positive attitude toward a position's expectations and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal responsibility for the wellbeing of the students and staff with whom they work.
  • Proven leadership experience; staff management experience preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to teamwork.
  • Must be able to traverse distances of at least one mile with or without accommodation.
  • Must be able to lift and/or maneuver at least 40lbs.
  • Must be licensed to drive in the U.S.

General Responsibilities

  • Learn, implement, and uphold CTD policies and procedures, including the CTD Honor Code.
  • Uphold CTD's standard of supervision at all times.
  • Develop tools and training to support residential staff in leading activities.
  • Meet weekly with directors of each residential community (Grades 6-8 & Grades 9-12).
  • Meet weekly with residential staff of each residential community (Grades 6-8 & Grades 9-12).
  • Work to integrate residential teams who can confidently lead activities in both grade bands.
  • Supervise the CTD residential community on Excursion Saturdays.
  • Provide support and direction to staff in order to foster an inclusive, fun, and safe residential community.
  • Ensure that rules and procedures are enforced consistently and respectfully by residential staff; address challenging behavior as necessary.
  • Communicate any student or staff concerns to the Residential Director, Program Coordinator, or Summer Program Coordinator.
  • Respond to parent concerns quickly, efficiently, and appropriately in person, on the phone, and via e-mail.
  • Support development of social-emotional skills among students.
  • Evaluate Summer Program and Summer Program staff.
  • Provide support to any CTD program on the Evanston campus, as needed.
  • Assume program-related responsibilities as requested by CTD administrative staff.
  • Must be willing to drive a Northwestern University-provided minivan across campus and across town.
