In the role of Project Accountant 2, we'll count on you to:

  • Provide accurate, timely project accounting support to multiple project managers.
  • Prepare monthly client invoices, monitor costs, identify irregularities, and resolve financial issues.
  • Work independently to process supplier updates, requisitions, invoices, payables, time sheet adjustments, and expense reports.
  • Utilize project accounting software and performance dashboards to set up, maintain, and monitor project contractual and financial information, including fee and budgets.
  • Review proposals, cost estimates and other documents for contractual, formula, and calculation accuracy.
  • Communicate accounting, cost, and budget performance to project managers and leadership.
  • Demonstrate effective time management to complete various tasks from different managers, within stated deadlines.
  • Mentor junior project accountants as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Once trained, this role can be hybrid with time split between the office and home. Candidate may work from our Honolulu office on Oahu or our Wailuku office on Maui.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience; an advanced degree may offset years of experience
  • Familiar with Earned Value Management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skills
  • Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
