Position Summary
Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics is seeking to fill a full-time Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse position. This role is responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. The Medical Assistant role will provide information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the services and convey a positive image. He/she may be assigned to specific medical specialty (e.g. Podiatry) to help with patient care related to that specialty.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Care Responsibilities include:
Monitoring and assisting with daily schedules to enhance patient and provider flow.
Accompany patients to examination or treatment room, interviewing patients, measure vital signs, update patient information and changes in medical history, and prepare patient for examination and/or treatment.
Assisting patients with ambulation and transfers.
Obtaining X-ray/radiological imaging as ordered and overseen by the provider
Perform specimen collection, venipunctures, administration of medications/vaccines
Performs screenings per provider guidelines, charting, relaying instructions to patients/families; manages office telephone systems, including answering calls and returning messages.
Scheduling patient appointments, surgical scheduling, and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments.
Fulfill clerical/administrative responsibilities as assigned which may include:
Sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/imaging and other reports, hospital notes, processes prior authorizations, appeals, referral information, etc.
Completes forms/requisitions as needed
Schedules appointments, verifying accuracy of insurance coverage and patient demographics
Maintains patient chart, ensuring HIPAA compliance by completing and adhering to the safeguarding of medical records
Completes diagnostic coding and procedure coding, ensuring accuracy.
Fulfill environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include:
Assists providers with various procedures, performs instrument sterilization and required quality controls/monitoring logs.
Cleaning exam/procedure rooms, maintaining infection control; performs sterile instrument processing and maintains sterilizer and associated quality requirements,
Supports inventory management through ordering, sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.

Condition of Employment
Required Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Completion of medical assisting program with CMS or RMS certification
1-2 years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
Maintain BLS certification
Must achieve a background check clearance
