Airfield Electrical Engineer

The Opportunity

The Airfield Electrical Engineer will play a key role in understanding, evaluating, and crafting project designs for visual aids and their associated civil and electrical infrastructure at airports. This includes adherence to national (FAA, TP312) standards as well as to client specifications. The role involves producing technical documentation and drawings, including technical specifications, engineering reports, detailed layout plans and construction detail drawings based on a comprehensive knowledge of ADB SAFEGATE and third-party products and systems. The Airfield Electrical Engineer will create, maintain and improve the department's calculation tools, procedures and libraries, with special emphasis on those dedicated to the Americas airport market and that can assist airport engineering firms.

Business Line: Serving major airside business lines including airfield lighting control and monitoring, aircraft visual docking systems, Air Traffic Control departure & arrival management and advanced weather observation systems.

You will make an impact by....

• Creating and maintaining the ADB SAFEGATE airfield lighting design guidelines and specifications manuals based on FAA standards.
• Managing airfield engineering projects developed by multidisciplinary teams ensuring they meet quality standards, deadlines and budget constraints.
• Accurately estimating the time required to complete own and assigned tasks, setting realistic deadlines and ensuring they are met.
• Performing essential airside engineering calculations such as electrical power calculations, specific airfield lighting calculations (PAPI, aiming point, approach lighting), heat dissipation, etc.
• Creating and reviewing airfield layout drawings (airfield lighting, signs, marking, ducts, pits and cabling), installation detail drawings (adapted to the specific project requirements), electrical wiring schematic drawings as well as fit-out drawings (manholes, duct banks and pits).
• Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders, presenting and defending the airfield design project deliverables with clarity and confidence.
• Preparing airside infrastructure bills of quantities for bidding (pricing) and for execution (production).
• Creating and reviewing AVDGS top view, side view and front view installation drawings.
• Providing technical support during the installation phase of airside infrastructure projects.
• Providing feedback on ADB SAFEGATE products and systems to Product Management.

The talent we want to inspire has...

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE)
• 3-5 year of years related experience in airfield electrical infrastructure, with a specific focus on airfield visual aids
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2018 or higher, with a strong background in MS Office and MS Teams.
• US Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer or similar
• Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively in a multicultural setting.
• Knowledge and understanding of airfield project design processes

This would be a plus but not a must!

• Advanced proficiency in Spanish
• Familiarity with Autodesk Vault, REVIT, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD Civil 3D
