Position Summary:

We are seeking a versatile and motivated Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) Sales and Network Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and selling QKD systems, understanding customer requirements, providing technical support to clients, and managing the implementation and maintenance of QKD networks.

This is a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge quantum cryptography technology and a diverse set of commercial clients. The engineer will take a lead role in helping customers deploy Toshiba's QKD technology service, as well as lead proof-of-concept trials and assist with local marketing initiatives. This is a dynamic, hybrid role that combines elements of customer technical support, technical marketing, and product planning. The ideal candidate will have an interest in quantum cryptography and a strong background in computing, software, networking, security, and data center implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Network Engineering

Design, implement, and manage QKD networks. This includes configuring network devices and software, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring the security and efficiency of the network. Keep records of equipment to be maintained.

2. Customer Support

Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support to clients. Explain the technical aspects of QKD systems, assist with system installation and setup, propose network architecture, manage network project, and troubleshoot any issues.

3. Technical Sales and Promotion

Promote and sell QKD systems and solutions to potential clients. Understand customer requirements, propose suitable QKD solutions. Use-case analysis, white papers, and presentations to customers and vertical industries. Support the planning and execution of public relations events and media releases. Set up, promote company products and solutions by participating in conferences, tradeshows, and industry panels. Assist in building market and brand awareness.

4. Market Analysis

Keep abreast of the latest market trends and competitor offerings in the field of QKD. Use this information to identify sales opportunities and improve our product offerings.

5. Business Development

Suggesting a business model involves defining how business will operate, generate revenue, and create value for customers. A good business model is one that creates value for both the business and its customers. It should be flexible enough to adapt to changes in the market, but robust enough to withstand challenges. It's also important to regularly review and update business model as business grows and evolves.

6. Training and Presentations

Conduct training sessions and presentations for clients and potential clients to promote our QKD systems and solutions.

7. Collaboration

Work closely with the product development team and product planning team in Japan and Europe to understand the features, benefits of our QKD systems, and roadmap. Provide feedback from customers to help improve our products.

Qualifications:

1. A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field, with a focus on information science.

2. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with network engineering, including network design, implementation, and troubleshooting in data center, telecommunication, and finance. In-depth knowledge of data management policy, network security, fiber optic communication, Linux, VPN, netmask, DHCP, DNS etc.

3. Experience in a sales or customer-facing role, preferably in the technology sector.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

5. Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

6. Individual initiative and comfort with working independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience selling QKD systems or similar technology products.

2. Knowledge of quantum cryptography, specifically QKD.

3. Certifications in network engineering (e.g., CCNA, CCNP).

Working Conditions:

Location is flexible. While TIC maintains offices in Houston, TX remote-based applicants will also be considered. If the candidate lives within commuting distance from the office, the candidate will be required to come to work at least 3 days a week. Some travel is required for customer meetings, tradeshows, site visits, or training.
