The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking talented and motivated candidates for a Civil Engineer role supporting department projects. This critical role will engage with Ulteig's renewable and utility civil, structural, and electrical design teams as well as our clients to provide innovative, forward thinking design solutions to facilitate the development, design, and construction of department projects. The ideal candidate must be able to execute complex assignments under minimal supervision and visually portray complex design features. Successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work tasks to meet scheduled delivery dates. Candidates must be self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to work in a collaborative team environment. We are looking for candidates that are committed to client satisfaction, and adhere strictly to client-driven standards, schedules, and budgets.

What You'll Do



  • Apply current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete engineering tasks, and supports other civil, structural, and electrical design workflows as necessary on a case-by-case basis.
  • Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports that are complete, accurate and in accordance with standard engineering practices.
  • Recommend alterations to development criteria and design features to improve quality.
  • Work closely with and provides guidance to engineering technicians and design engineers.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project goals.
  • Involved technically with the resolution of design challenges that may include performing field investigation or observations and when necessary resolving discrepancies between multiple sources of information.
  • Check design computations performed by internal civil design team when appropriate.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.
  • Review plans and specifications for construct-ability, safety, and risk management considerations.
  • Maintain a value engineering mindset throughout development, design, and construction.
  • Work closely with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and technical disciplines.
  • Work closely with clients to understand nuanced technical needs and identify the best feasible solution(s).
  • Support marketing, sales and business development activities within assigned market.
  • Demonstrate a wide degree of out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and design ownership.
  • Work primarily in the office, with up to 20% of the time in the field, visiting clients, and representing Ulteig at conferences and trade shows as warranted.



What We Expect from You



  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent is required.
  • Civil Professional Engineer (PE) registration required, NCEES Council Record is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience performing civil design and development of infrastructure related projects in a fast-paced consulting environment is required.
  • Proficient at large scale grading and drainage design, additions to existing civil designs, and earthwork calculations is required.
  • Familiarity with erosion and sediment control applications in arid environments and cost effective nonvegetative stabilization techniques is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D or MicroStation and Open Roads is required.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $91,000 - $123,000
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
