Overview
The Vermont Emergency Management (VEM) Recovery Section Chief will manage the state Public Assistance Program. The Cheif will supervise the work of the Public Assistance Officer and Public Assistance Project Manager, who will research and apply applicable federal and state regulations and laws to the implementation of the state public assistance program, and support long-term Recovery Support Function Task Forces. This position, VEM Recovery Section Chief (Job Opening #51453), is open to all State employees and external applicants.This is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Normal office working conditions generally prevail with some required travel to various localities throughout the State for which private means of transportation must be available. Emergency management drills and actual emergencies require performance outside of normal duty hours. On-call status may be required during certain periods. Minimum Qualifications
Six (6) or more years of experience involving emergency management, hazard mitigation, policy and/or program planning, or related field INCLUDING at least one (1) year or more of managerial, supervisory, or team lead experience. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in emergency management, homeland security, public health, or related field. Special Requirements
