Job Description
Position Overview: The Plant Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of plant operations at our facility in Mason City, IA. The ideal candidate will have experience managing large teams, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. They should also possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
Responsibilities: 1) Oversee day-to-day activities at the plant, including production scheduling, quality control, inventory management, and equipment maintenance. 2) Implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity. 3) Collaborate with Operations Leadership team members to develop and implement plans for process improvements and cost reductions. 4) Ensure adherence to food safety protocols and regulatory requirements. 5) Manage relationships with external suppliers and internal departments such as engineering, human resources, finance, and procurement. 6) Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees regarding performance issues, training needs, and employee relations matters. 7) Communicate regularly with corporate leadership on key operational metrics, market trends, and industry best practices. 8) Participate in cross-functional projects related to new product launches or business expansion initiatives. 9) Monitor financial performance indicators, including labor costs, overhead expenses, and profitability. 10) Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, providing constructive feedback, and recognizing individual contributions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience required; prior experience as a Plant Manager or similar role highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing change management initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels within the organization.
- Ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of ERP systems.
- Preferred candidates will have experience working in the food processing industry.
