You'll have the opportunity to provide data analysis to support, compile and report key information for operations and business objectives. This is a position that affords you the ability to drive process and improvement initiatives. By gathering and documenting business requirements and utilizing analytical skills to fulfill the needs of the business, you will have an impact on healing the health care system. This is a challenging role that creates an opportunity to grow and develop.

We have a position available to work for Corporate Accounting on the systems and data management team. The successful candidate will work on the FTS team (Financial Tagging System) which is responsible for updating rules tables used to tag financial transactions with general ledger codes for reporting purposes. New acquisitions and systems changes are the biggest driver for tagging rule changes. An important part of the job besides the table / rules updates is the time spent in project team meetings where the details of new and on-going projects are discussed with IT and business representatives. The ability to form solid relationships with the IT and business groups is important.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Gather and document business requirements
  • Create and maintain the rules that drive classification of activity in the financial statements
  • Publish tagging rules and communicate results to the business
  • Problem-solving issues and answering ad hoc questions around the financial tagging process
  • Support ad hoc accounting and finance for cross team support

Required Qualifications:



  • 1+ years of experience in business analysis with a solid understanding of data storage structures, ideally in finance or accounting
  • 1+ years of experience with project methodology (requirements, design, development, test and implementation)
  • Experience gathering requirements from the client / business and documenting results
  • Intermediate or greater level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proven ability to evaluate business processes and provide process improvement recommendations
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate to the business in writing and verbally
  • Proven ability to work with detailed data sets with associated rules while maintaining high accuracy
  • Proven ability to problem solve and research conflicting and / or inaccurate data
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time
  • Proven ability to work within a team
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, project management, organizational, and analytical skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analysis or related field
  • Experience using general ledger accounting systems, e.g. Oracle, PeopleSoft
  • Intermediate or greater proficiency with MS SharePoint

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $58,300 to $114,300 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
