Position Overview:

  • The Medical Office Assistant in the managed care practice ensures the smooth flow of patients through the office, efficiently handles incoming and outgoing phone calls, and coordinates patient appointments and correspondence. They provide friendly, courteous assistance to every customer, ensuring a positive and professional experience at JHCP.

Location:

  • Baltimore, MD.

Schedule:

  • Monday- Friday 8:30AM - 5:00 PM.

Pay Rate:

  • $22.00 Per Hour.

Requirements


  • Greets patient promptly upon arrival to practice. Accurately collects and documents time-of-service payments. Verifies/collects: demographics, emergency contact information, and insurance information. Correctly registers patients in system, including registration paperwork.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the following MOA competencies to include but not limited to: patient registration, appointments, scheduling, arrival appointments, EMR phone notes, EMR Rx refills, EMR orders, flags, care alerts, pop-ups and indexing documents within EMR.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required in order to serve a diverse customer base.
  • Must operate standard office machines and equipment such as calculators, typewriters, word processing, photocopiers, PC, general office and communications equipment.
  • Makes appropriate decisions, using available resources, to achieve positive outcomes for patients, visitors, and staff in balance with sound business practice.
  • Basic problem solving and decision making skills required.
  • Completes mandatory MIS training to include, PID, Pre-verification, Check-in, Appointment Entry, E-mail, Insurance proficiency, cash collection and all additional and/or revised required courses. established by the MIS training department.
  • Schedules, reschedules and cancels patient appointments and procedures within the department.
  • Assigns and reassigns Primary Care Provider according to JHCP policy and procedures.
  • Collects and verifies the registration data at each encounter.
  • Performs down-time procedures and take necessary actions. (i.e. manual registration).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years' work experienced preferred.
  • A working knowledge of computers, medical terminology and insurance.
  • Knowledge regarding Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
