A Brief Overview

This position will serve as a knowledge expert between the IT&S owners of the Electronic Health Record and the surrounding applications technology, and will provide guidance relating to, and help lead all technical aspects related to software and technology design decisions, implementation, testing and ongoing support.

What You Will Do



  • Installation and updates to the application software
    * Work independently to coordinate and lead all aspects of the installation and updates to the EHR with the vendor, DBA, Server Storage, Network, InfoSec, UAC and other technology teams as appropriate to support aiding and maintaining applications, database and modules within the various non-Production and Production environments
    * Defines and develops enterprise-specific documentation describing the activities performed by the IT Teams and vendor.
    * Works with vendor staff to review and ensure adherence to applicable system standards, and to coordinate remote access information and capability.
    * Presents new products or changes to current products to architecture group for initial review and discussion.
    * Ensures technology and service desk documentation is updated when changes are made or new products are implemented.
  • Managing system operations
    * Manage process and leads the team that Monitors Enterprise clinical and billing application environment including servers, interfaces, and fax/print technology, responds to alerts generated and works with the appropriate technology teams and vendor to resolve.
    * Lead teams independently to implement product software update, hot fixes and application upgrades, as needed.
    * Configures product services and coordinates client workstation settings.
    * Coordinates technology based application level changes with appropriate IT teams and Vendor, as needed.
  • Production Maintenance
    * Works with DBAs and Server Storage team to analyze database size and growth to ensure appropriate storage is available to the application.
    * Works with the data protection team to schedule database/log backups.
    * Monitors system activities during peak usage, including monitors page file, CPU, and memory usage.
    * On-Call/Off-Hours duties as required.
  • Administrative Requirements
    * Supports Manager in all technical activities related to the implementation & support of the clinical and billing applications.
    * Provides guidance and leadership to team members on system maintenance activities.
    * Participate in and support application and IT level Change Control process
    * Meets regularly with management to discuss system status and escalate issues, and assist as necessary with the completion of status reports and presentations, as well as maintenance activity scheduling and planning.
    * Reports status of upgrades and issues in a timely and effective manner.
    * Provides mentorship of team members

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
