Responsible for direct supervision of staff radiation therapists and administrative staff. Performs the complete range of radiation therapy procedures and tasks and operates all specialized equipment in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Work includes direction and coordination of work flow, as well as evaluation and management of staff radiation therapists and administrative staff, and overall facility oversight. Work is performed independently and reviewed by the Business Manager for Oncology.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: Completion of a 2 year accredited program in Radiation Therapy and registration through A.R.R.T. or Licensure by the State of Maine.

2. License/Certifications: See "Education"

3. Experience: Prior supervisory experience preferred. This position will have 5 years' experience in a comparable radiation therapy department and demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities.

4. Comprehensive knowledge of physics, anatomy and physiology, techniques, procedures and equipment involved with radiation therapy to perform and supervise complex treatment procedures.

5. Analytical ability to organize work flow and make appropriate suggestions for improvements as needed.

6. Interpersonal skills to direct the work of others and to provide instruction to technical staff and to provide constructive feedback.

7. Comprehensive technical ability to direct and assure quality of procedures performed in Radiation Therapy.

8. Ability to create a safe, caring environment for patients and their families and to maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties.
