The Division of Hematology has an opening for a full-time Assistant Research Professor for our Hematology Research Department. The Division of Hematology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a leader in blood cancer research to advance the knowledge and treatment of multiple myeloma, supervise laboratory staff and manage the Division's flow cytometry and tissue banking facilities. The new faculty would be joining an established group of Investigators focused on leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, multiple myeloma and stem cell biology. The Hematology Division has its own very successful and highly efficient Clinical Trials Unit, allowing for a robust program in drug development and other studies, and includes tissue banking. Our adult program has a close working relationship with pediatric hematology, both being situated on a state-of-the art campus and allowing for collaborative clinical and research programs. There are extensive resources and opportunities for basic science, translational, and clinical research on campus in hematology and through cross-divisional networking. The Division is fully committed to the clinical and academic success of the new faculty member. The individual would become part of a fantastic group of academic clinicians establishing the University of Colorado as a center of excellence in hematology. This is subject to change dependent upon the needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Advance research projects in multiple myeloma focused on drug development, drug resistance and personalized medicine.
  • Manage the flow cytometry facility of the Division of Hematology Research Labs.
  • Manage the tissue banking operations of the Division of Hematology Research Labs.
  • Train, mentor and supervise Professional Research personnel of the Division of Hematology Research Labs. Train students and post-doctoral fellows as needed.
  • Manage the daily operations of the Sherbenou lab, including ordering, inventory and maintenance of mouse colonies.


Work Location: This role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor:



  • PhD or Equivalent Experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Greater than ten years of post-graduate experience.
  • Experience with flow cytometry
  • Experience with in vivo model experiments
  • Experience with translational research, including use of human tissue samples


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $90,744 - $107,477

(total compensation package)

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
