Job Summary The Security Guard is responsible for providing a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff and guests. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet students, faculty, staff and guests to CIM in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Be familiar with and able to perform both opening and closing procedures.
- Operate alarm systems.
- Ensure only authorized persons gain admittance to restricted access offices and studios.
- Challenge unfamiliar or unknown persons in or on the grounds of the Institute.
- Conduct surveillance of the building by performing routine interior and exterior patrols of the main building, parking lot and student housing complex.
- Operate security surveillance equipment when asked to do so.
- Maintain visitor sign-in book.
- Regularly monitor building staff radio, email, MS Teams, and other lines of communication throughout the workday
- Receive and appropriately direct incoming phone calls
- Notify appropriate personnel of guests in a timely manner and direct guests to appropriate offices and/or meeting rooms when necessary.
- Interface with University Circle Inc. (UCI) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) Police to report and/or resolve problems on CIM premises.
- Accept and secure lost and found articles and note items on the lost and found log.
- Produce incident log and report files.
- Notify and assist proper authorities in the case of emergency situations (fire, injury, disaster, criminal action, medical, etc.)
- Manage practice room and studio reservations and reserved parking
- Other duties as assigned, including execution of Covid-19 related screening protocols
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven work experience as security personnel with reception duties.
- Efficient PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must have excellent attendance.
- Punctual.
- Work emergencies and overtime as needed.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Patrols may occur externally in all weather conditions. Able to work flexible hours. Position requires physical dexterity for moving, standing, climbing or walking for significant periods of time and lifting up to 35 pounds. This includes but is not limited to patrolling building and grounds and responding quickly to emergency situations. Direct reports None.
