Huntsman is seeking a Highly Skilled Operator supporting the Huntsman Advanced Materials Americas LLC Division located in Akron, Ohio. This position will report to the Production Manager.

In summary, as the Highly Skilled Operator, you will:

  • Abide by all safety rules.
  • Understand and use the handling and safety procedures for all raw materials and finished goods.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Demonstrate and use a complete understanding of chemical blending, including equipment function and proper use.
  • Use knowledge of physical and chemical properties to operate safely and efficiently.
  • Operate mix tanks, agitators, and other pumps as directed by the supervisor. Operate all instruments in the production room.
  • Use detailed procedures to manufacture safe and quality products. Weigh out quantities of raw materials and pour and/or pump materials into vessels. Monitor and control blending processes.
  • Adjust batches per laboratory instruction.
  • Troubleshoot processing problems and take corrective action when possible. Seek assistance when necessary.
  • Take corrective actions when an alarm condition exists. Take actions necessary in an emergency to help minimize danger to personnel and to the environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or other relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DCS or PLC.

Skills and knowledge

  • A strong mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Must have the willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift on any two shifts and readily accept overtime without restriction.
  • Must have a strong work ethic with a can-do attitude.
  • Must possess excellent verbal communication skills and have computer literacy.
  • Must have a good safety approach to work.
  • Must be capable of learning equipment maintenance and have the flexibility to adapt to change.
  • Must be able to lift 55 lbs. and capable of walking stairs and working both indoors and outdoors as needed.
  • Must be able to wear proper PPE including a respirator.
  • The ability to multitask and make decisions effectively are critical job competencies.
  • Excellent attendance and work ethic are desired.
