Acara Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Drafter to join our client, a growing manufacturer in Buffalo, NY!
Type: Direct Hire with benefits
Hourly rate: up to 32.00/HR, depending on experienc e
S chedule: Monday-Friday, 8AM to 5PM with hybrid flexibility on Tuesday and Thursday
Reporting to the Project Engineer/Mechanical Designer, the Mechanical Drafter is responsible for designing mechanical and electromechanical subassemblies used in the thermal processing of specialty materials. These subassemblies often operate in controlled atmospheres or vacuums, incorporating steel and stainless-steel fabrications, as well as other materials like copper, brass, aluminum, and plastic. The role also includes integrating purchased components such as hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, actuators, and sensors.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently or collaboratively create detailed design and fabrication drawings to meet project and company requirements.
  • Coordinate with both internal teams and external partners throughout drafting and manufacturing phases.
  • Conduct preliminary checks of designs to ensure compliance before seeking Project Engineer approval.
  • Work closely with the Senior Mechanical Designer to address issues at any project stage.
  • Perform extensive 2D detailing for individual parts and assemblies, ensuring proper arrangement, views, and sections to facilitate fabrication.
  • Apply precise dimensioning and tolerancing for complex part details.
  • Verify completed drawings meet input requirements before final engineering submission.
  • Update and revise drawings, assembly details, and specifications as needed.
  • Engage in other engineering activities related to project needs.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year College, analogous work experience considered.
  • Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning, Tolerancing, and ASME Y14 or similar.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing concepts used in the fabrication and assembly of industrial assemblies, weldments, and detail parts.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, project requirements documents, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Strong working knowledge of CAD software e.g., Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, Mechanical Desktop, and similar CAD platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Product Data Management software (e.g. Autodesk Vault, Solidworks PDM).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology
