Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned) The QA/QC Turbine Repair Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of gas and steam turbine repairs, new gas and steam turbine parts, and repaired gas and steam turbine parts accordance with industry standards, Calpine specifications, and Calpine procedures. This role involves conducting inspections, overseeing repair processes, verifying documentation, and working closely with Calpine teams to deliver high-quality gas and turbine repair services, gas and steam turbine repaired parts, and new gas and steam parts. Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement QA/QC procedures specific to gas and steam turbine repairs and new gas and steam turbine parts.
- Conduct inspections and testing of turbine components before, during, and after repairs to ensure compliance with industry standards (ASME, ISO, API, etc.)
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of repair documentation, including material certificates, repair logs, and NDT reports.
- Ensure that all work is performed according to the approved quality plan and job specifications.
- Develop KPIs to measure the new implementation of the QA/QC process
- Assists OS fulfillment with developing spare parts inventory.
- Work with 3rd party repair vendors to develop new repair processes and procedures beyond the OEMs requirements to extend part cycles and part lives.
- Monitor repair operations to ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Review and approve repair and modification proposals to ensure technical soundness and quality.
- Oversee NDT procedures, including radiographic, ultrasonic, and magnetic particle testing, to ensure accurate defect identification and compliance.
- Evaluate test results and collaborate with engineering teams to determine necessary corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records of all quality control activities, including inspection reports, test results, and non-conformance reports.
- Prepare and submit quality audit reports, corrective action plans, and performance evaluations.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure timely submission of documentation to clients.
- Lead root cause analysis investigations for any non-conformances or defects discovered during repairs.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence of defects or failures.
- Continuously evaluate and improve QA/QC processes to enhance repair quality and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Support internal and external quality audits, including preparing documentation and implementing audit recommendations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in QA/QC roles in turbine repair, power generation, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards (ASME, ISO, API, etc.) and NDT methods.
- Familiarity with turbine systems, including gas and steam
- Experience with root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Certifications such as ASQ (American Society for Quality), NDT Level II/III, or similar are preferred.
Working Conditions:
- This role may require occasional travel to turbine repair sites and client locations.
- Must be able to work in an industrial environment and adhere to all safety protocols.
