Summary of Job Duties:The Senior Patient Access Financial Counseling Specialist (FC) duties are to evaluate financial coverage for patients being considered for oncology services. The FC will verify insurance benefits, including pharmacy, and obtain pre-authorization for services from third party payers. The FC will also educate patients/family members, and/or care givers in a clinic setting and /or an inpatient setting on the financial requirements of transplant. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business or related PLUS two (2) years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle or revenue cycle related function OR High School Diploma/GED PLUS 6 years of experience in healthcare in a revenue cycle related function

  • Communicates with others regarding potential approval of patients and provides updates and reports regarding financial clearances on patient
  • Discuss benefits and other transplant financial issues with patients and/or family members, advises patient on insurance and billing issues and options, and serves as a resource for patients and their family members on financial matters
  • Explains financial obligation, payment options and assistance programs to the patient
  • Obtains detailed patient insurance benefit information and verifies coverage and medical benefits
  • Assists with Electronic Health Record database reporting and maintenance of patient and QA/PI related databases and flow sheets

Salary Information:

Commensurate with education and experience.
