DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Therapeutic Activities Aide, you will assist in planning, organizing, scheduling, and conducting recreational and educational activities that will lead residents to their highest level of physical, cognitive, and social abilities. This includes coordinating activities with other departments, maintaining working relationships with veteran's service organizations, acting as a lead worker for volunteers who assist in activities and programs, and instructing assigned volunteers in safety practices and local policies. In this role, you will have the opportunity to create a safe and cordial atmosphere for residents, visitors, volunteer groups, other departments, and the general public.

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Sunday - Thursday, Friday and Saturday off, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (commonwealth title); or
- Six months of work experience providing care to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
In accordance with the seniority provisions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, this position was previously posted for seniority candidates. Since there were no seniority candidates, it is now open to all applicants.
