DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position is designed to provide you with the initial skills and information necessary to begin your police career. You will be enrolled in the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) approved Act 120 certification program designed to develop proficiency in law interpretation and application, legal procedures, police operations, public safety, physical fitness, self-defense, firearms, report writing, maintenance and use of equipment, and law enforcement practice. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Schedule based on HACC's curriculum.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements:
- All positions require possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
- All employees must be at least 21 years of age by the completion of the MPOETC Academy.
- All employees must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation, truth verification exam, reading ability test, psychological evaluation, medical examination, urinalysis screening, hearing and vision screening, and a physical fitness test that includes running, swimming, strength and agility, and any other test deemed appropriate for pre-service registration.
- All employees are required to enroll in, participate, and complete the MPOETC approved Act 120 training within 27 weeks to obtain authority to exercise the power of arrest. Act 120 certification must be obtained to successfully complete the Recruit program.
Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) Requirements:
- In order to participate in and complete the 919 hour training program you must have the following:
- Have a High School Diploma or GED
- Be a US Citizen
- Minimum 9th grade reading level
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
